Here, we’ll learn the basics of document layout, where ‘document’ can refer to a range of different media: urban design boards, reports, scientific poster, etc. It turns out that effectivelly laying out all of these different document types involves some simple and consistent principles. Of course, breaking these conventions is useful and often necessary, but building a general sensitivity to how eyes tend to approach printed material is of broad utility.
